Massage Is Art

ROLE: To work with client starting new business as massage therapist and develop a brand and assets.

SOLUTION: Using the client’s passion for 1950’s furniture and architecture, I was inspired by the work of Mies Van Der Rohe and Ray Eames. Using the simple curves of their chairs, I created an image that reflected this movement—mimicking the movement of the body and the connection with massage. I also incorporated dark, metal-like colors in his pieces to continue the inspiration of steel and chrome, but still be accessible. I used typography to represent the linear aspects of the body, with thick and think styles to represent areas of flow and areas of tension in the body, as well as airy type to promote lightness of the body after the massage.
